Millions of visitors come to visit the beautiful city of Victoria each and every year, and for many of them the tour is not complete until they enjoy a relaxing sit and enjoy a warm freshly brewed pot of tea at one of Victoria’s hidden gems. Bernd and Yvonne Woerpel have been welcoming tourists for almost 25 years, and we look forward to weloming you too!

We offer Daily High Tea, a tradition that has made us world famous. So draw up in your horse and carriage and step inside, you won’t be disappointed and you can savour our ‘little taste of Britain’ feel as you take the time to enjoy our large collection of memorabilia.

to the James Bay Tea Room & Restaurant, we are tucked behind the Provincial Parliament Buildings and a short walk from the Inner Harbour in a humble little white house with black trim and a black and white awning.

This turn of the century house was built in 1907, as a family home. Over the ensuing years it has been an integral part of the James Bay neighbourhood. It has housed a general store that sold bulk food items and the like. Then it was a café style diner and in mid-1982 it was transformed into the James Bay Tea Room & Restaurant. Bernd & Yvonne Woerpel have been the proud owner/operators of this world renowned Tea Room since early 1986.

Our hearty breakfasts, wonderful lunches, and Daily High Tea Service are available for your enjoyment throughout the day.

We also offer choices such as Kippers or Bangers and Eggs, Steak and Kidney Pies made from Ale Gravy, and a real favourite, Welsh Rarebit on Toast. Our made from scratch scones and generous bowl of soup is another delight to the palate.

Our extensive collection of memorabilia begins in the front hall with a very good Royal Family Tree. Once inside the dining room, the walls and shelves are covered with collectables and one-of-a-kind items. Photos and paintings of Royals, Prime Ministers, Presidents, and of course the Team Room itself.

From early June through to the end of October you will be greeted with some of the most beautiful hanging baskets surrounding the outside of the building. We are open year round from 7:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Saturday and 8:00am - 5:00pm Sunday.

Our wonderful staff and Team Room look forward to seeing you and yours soon.

    Please help,
My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Victoria last weekend. On Sunday morning we had breakfast at your restaurant,(very good I must say). For years I have tried to find out what kind of breakfast link sausage many restaurants in B.C. serve, I noticed that you served the same kind, I have never seen them in any restaurants here in the States. These sausages appear to be larger in diameter than those served down here in Washington. Could you please send me the name and brand of these great links to me?

    Thank you, Dennis Bourland
